When you request a quote
The quote form asks for your name, phone number, an optional email address, how you prefer to be contacted, your city or ZIP code, and details about the floor: the type of space, approximate dimensions, surface condition, goals, finish preference, timing, and anything you type in the notes field. We use this to prepare your quote, contact you, plan the free on-site measurement, and then run the job it turns into: scheduling, status tracking, internal working notes, and ordinary business records such as pricing and bookkeeping.
A submitted request becomes a business record with a reference number. Rocky Coatings staff see it in a private dashboard, where they can update its status, record prices and visit dates, and attach internal working notes; the system also keeps a timeline of what happened to the request (when it was submitted, when we were notified, delivery receipts for that notification). The website recalculates any planning estimate on our side — the number shown in your browser is treated as a display convenience, not the stored figure.
Project photos
Photos you attach are stored in a private storage area that is not publicly reachable. Staff view them through short-lived, expiring links from the dashboard; the notification email we receive mentions only how many photos you attached, never the images themselves. Photos are stored exactly as uploaded — if your camera embeds location data in the file, that data remains in the stored file — so please photograph the floor, not people or documents.
Customer accounts
Accounts are optional and exist to save planning estimates. Signing up stores your email address, a securely hashed password, and the name you provide. Saved estimates keep the space type, dimensions, surface condition, the calculated range, and timestamps. If you book a visit, the appointment type and time are stored; if we take on your project, the business records the project address, key dates, and job status so you can follow progress from your account. Database access rules restrict each account's records to the signed-in customer who owns them — and to Rocky Coatings as the operator of the database.
What stays in your browser
While you fill in the quote form, your in-progress answers — including name, phone, email, and notes — are kept in your browser's session storage so a stray tap doesn't lose them; they are cleared when the request is submitted and disappear when the tab closes. The calculator keeps your last entered dimensions the same way. Two small preferences (navigation layout, whether the opening animation has played) are also stored locally. When you sign in, your session token is kept in the browser's local storage until you sign out. This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, ad, or tracking scripts.
Service providers
Three providers run this website, and your information is processed by them to the extent their role requires: Supabase hosts the database, authentication, and private photo storage; Netlify hosts the website and runs its server code; Resend delivers our notification email when a quote request arrives, which contains the details you submitted (not the photos), and reports back whether that email was delivered. Like any web host, these providers handle connection details such as IP addresses transiently in their infrastructure; the application itself does not record your IP address. Our abuse protection stores only a scrambled identifier that cannot be turned back into an address, and those records expire automatically.
Retention and deletion
Quote requests and project records are kept as business records for as long as they are reasonably needed for the work, warranty coverage, and our own bookkeeping. From your account you can delete individual saved estimates and cancel booked visits at any time (a canceled visit stays visible in your history). There is no self-service way to delete a submitted quote request or an account — ask us instead, and we will remove what we are not required to keep.

Security, honestly stated
Data is transmitted over HTTPS, database rows are protected by per-owner access rules, photos live in private storage, and staff access requires an authorized account. No system is immune to every failure, so the site deliberately collects what the work needs and nothing more. Nothing in this system shares or sells customer information to third parties beyond the service providers named above, and the site collects no payment details.

If the website starts collecting something new or a provider changes, this page will be updated before or alongside that change, with the date above revised.
